Urania’s fragrances are provocative, sophisticated and unique, with a sense of gender playfulness that encourage you to find your freedom. We embrace love of the body in its entirety – all forms, skin tones, shapes and identities – and aim to accentuate all its diverse ways of being and expressing.

Urania is an epithet of the Greek goddess Aphrodite, signifying “heavenly” or “spiritual” to distinguish her from her earthlier aspect. The muse of astronomy, Urania is a celestial divinity believed to inspire heavenly love, curiosity and imagination. It is said that from her, universal love was born – a free love of cosmic grandeur.

The reinvention of contemporary high perfumery begins in this heavenly garden, where creation is boundless, self-expression is untamed, and joyful freedom triumphs. Urania is Contemporary High Perfumery. Scents beyond inhibitions that celebrate the ever evolving universe that is you.

The Founder

“So many different bottles telling different stories, but none that I could fully connect with. My individuality is a great part of who I am. To find my own freedom, I had to go through a long journey of self-discovery, and I wanted something to express this, not conceal it. That’s why I was inspired to create Urania,” says the founder Winder Ton.

Ton's fragrant odyssey commenced with the discovery of Sylvester the Cat by Looney Tunes when he was 4 - a woody aromatic fragrance featuring enchanting notes of pomelo, ginger, jasmine leaf, and sandalwood. Ton's enduring passion for fragrances has been a constant source of delight and intrigue throughout their life.

With a strong scientific background, Ton delved into the world of aromatic molecules to craft the exceptional Urania perfumes. Their mission was to fashion fragrances that exuded aspiration, provocation, and a sense of fun while maintaining a refined sophistication. These fragrances were intended for individuals, like Ton, who embrace their true selves unabashedly.

“To me, it affirms a place where misfits are not only represented, but celebrated: no boxes to be ticked, no labels to be worn, just limitless creativity, ethereal sophistication and unpretentious coolness.” - Winder Ton

In a world filled with beautiful misfits who command admiration and inspire wonder, and where countless others are still discovering their distinctive qualities, Urania fragrances served as a testament to the celebration of individuality and uniqueness.

A lance is a steel-tipped wooden weapon once used by Greek and Roman warriors. Drawing from this imagery, the perfume infuses deep wooden notes with a hint of metallic elegance to evoke the courage and confidence of these spirited champions, who often referred to the phallus as “the lance of love.”
